The ABC's of Building a House

ABC stands for Architect Before Contractor.

Why is this important?

The obvious reason is that Design precedes construction, but more importantly here are THREE reasons for hiring an architect before hiring a contractor.

  1. A Contractor cannot do anything without a set of plans. You can talk all you want about your dream project, but It is futile to discuss a project without plans. Moreover, it is impossible to price a project without a thorough set of plans

  1. You can avoid making hasty decisions. Many times builders will have scheduled their sub contractors when they meet a prospect. Often times this is done before a thorough design process has taken place. This rushes the design process. When this happens flaws are likely to occur. Flawed houses still cost just as much to build!

  1. You are assured the best pricing for your project. A complete set of Construction Drawings (CD’s) prepared by a Licensed Architect will ensure you can get bids from numerous builders. This helps you find the best fit and pricing for your project. If you already have a builder you know and trust, we welcome them into the process early on. Thorough CD ‘s get you a thorough price from your builder.

Architects are formally trained to be creative problem solvers. Architects are also licensed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. As such an Architect will assure you get the best solution and also the most professional drawings. It is always in the clients best interest to engage the architect before the builder!
