2. What are your qualifications?
Is your designer licensed? Did they earn a professional degree? How long have they been practicing? Are you willing to take a risk with a newly minted designer? A licensed design professional guarentees the best level of service. New builds cost a lot of money, why entrust the design to an amateur?
3. Do you have expertise in residential design?
While all architects are licensed as General Practitioners, almost all architects develop an area of expertise. Residential design has its unique challenges, as do other building types. Knowing your Architect is dedicated to designing single family residences should be a paramount consideration.
4. Do you enjoy doing additions and Renovations?
Residential additions are typically small projects. As such many firms will consider them filler work and assign them to their most junior staff.
